Parent's Code of Conduct

As a parent member of the Eastside Tigers Youth Hockey program, I pledge to follow this code of conduct:

1. I will not force my child to play hockey. I will support his or her desire to play their chosen sport.
2. I will do my best to make hockey fun for my child.
3. I will place the emotional and physical well-being of my child, and any child, ahead of my personal desire to win.
4. I will remember that the game is for the children, not the adults.
5. I will recognize the importance of volunteer coaches to the development of my child and the sport of hockey.
6. I will take the time to attend team meetings to get to know the philosophy and expectations of my child's coaches.
7. I will communicate respectfully with my child's coaches and support their efforts.
8. I will have my child at all practices and games on time. I will notify my child's coach if my child will be late or cannot attend.
9. I will refrain from coaching my child or other players during practices and games unless I am an appointed coach of the team. I will encourage my child to play in a manner consistent with the team's strategy or plans.
10. I will not confront a coach in anger. I will wait 24 hours to cool down and then have the discussion.
11. I understand the importance of skill development. I will emphasize the importance of practice and de-emphasize games and competition, especially in younger age groups.
12. I will support officials by trusting their judgment and integrity. I will not dispute any infraction of any game with an official.
13. I will try to learn and understand the rules of hockey.
14. I will encourage my child to understand the rules of hockey and play by the rules.
15. I will be a positive role model to my child and the other children in the program. I will display emotional maturity.
16. I will be alert to the physical safety of players.
17. I will encourage good sportsmanship by demonstrating positive support for all players, coaches, opponents, and officials at every game, practice, or other Eastside Tigers event.
18. I will cheer in a positive manner only.
19. I will not swear or use rude language, gestures, or actions, or exhibit behavior detrimental to the game or Eastside Tigers Youth Hockey.
20. I will insist that my child treat all teammates, coaches, officials, opponents, and parents with respect.
21. I will encourage my child to learn to lose with dignity and win with grace.
22. I will make sure my child understands and follows the Eastside Tigers Player's Code of Conduct.
